Scattering the Clouds: Support for People with Memory-Related Disorders

As Connecticut’s leader in treating skilled nursing residents who have cognitive disorders, the Lutheran Home of Southbury developed Scattering the Clouds in order to share its expertise with people who live beyond our walls.

Scattering the Clouds (STC) provides two types of services:

I.  Community Seminars:

“Maintaining a Healthy Brain” presentations are given by Scattering the Clouds free-of-charge for churches and community centers in Southbury and the surrounding region. These presentations benefit persons who are experiencing the normal symptoms of memory loss due to aging and encourage people to seek professional medical and community assistance if they or people they know are experiencing symptoms of a memory disorder.

Scattering the Clouds offers free presentations for community groups and churches in the region.  To schedule a presentation in your church or community center, please call 203-264-9135 x159 or email ehardwick@lhsouthbury.org.

II.  Free One-on-One Consultations

During this meeting, a Scattering the Clouds staff member will evaluate the environmental safety factors of the home and suggest support services that may enable a person with a memory disorder to remain at home longer and more safely.  These services may include: medical, financial, and legal consultations; adult day care programs; companions and homemakers; home health care; pastoral care; respite care; and transportation.

To schedule an appointment with a Scattering the Clouds staff member or to ask any questions, please call Program Manager Edie Hardwick at 203-264-9135 x 159 or email ehardwick@lhsouthbury.org.
