Alzheimer’s and Dementia Specialty Care

“I cannot thank you enough for the loving care you gave my mother.  Your kindness to her and us, her family, as well as the compassionate, professional help you give to everyone in your care is appreciated far beyond my means to express.  Your road is surely doing God’s work.  Thank you so much.”

– M. Cleary

At the Lutheran Home of Southbury’s 120-resident Skilled Nursing Facility, exceptional care is our specialty:

  • Nursing staff are sincerely concerned about and attentive to residents and their needs, creating a warm and caring environment for residents and family members
  • Residents are encouraged to regain and maintain their ability to participate in daily activities
  • Recreational and chaplaincy programs keep residents engaged with one another and with the pleasures of life (See Resident Life page for more details)
  • Medical Director Dr. Daniel Wollman (M.D. and Ph.D. University of Pennsylvania) provides compassionate and expert medical care.  Dr. Casey Ott and numerous other area physicians also have privileges to treat residents at the Lutheran Home of Southbury.
  • Long-term residents have the opportunity to enroll in Evercare.  An Advantage Medicare Program, Evercare provides additional healthcare staff who assist in the early identification and specialized in-house treatment of illnesses.  Evercare has been praised by our local Congressional Representative Nancy Johnson (picture on right), as well as by residents and family members of the Lutheran Home of Southbury (for more information, please visit http://www.theheartofcaring.com/aboutEvercare.htm).

To Our Lutheran Home Family,

When I made the heart-wrenching decision to place my mother in a skilled nursing facility, I did so with certainty that I had found the best possible care for her.  And bless you all, you exceeded my expectations!

Although you didn’t have the pleasure of knowing Jean’s company before dementia, you all sensed her love of life.  You saw through to her soul, encouraged her self expression, and delighted in her remarks.  Our thanks to each and every one of you.

Sincerely,
Judy Lovdal and Family
